Lohri /Sankranti / Bhogi / Pongal is
celebrated at Sri Chinmaya Saraswati
Temple from Thursday Jan 15th to
Saturday January 17th 2015. Sankranti marks the beginning of the
movement of sun towards the
northern
hemisphere starting the
auspicious period of Uttarayan.
Please join us on Thursday,
January 15th 2015 at 7 PM for Sri Satyanarayana
Puja.
On Friday, January
16th 2015: Lohri
is celebrated to worship fire god.
•The
celebrations will start at 6.30 PM.
People gather
around the bonfire and throw til, puffed rice & popcorns into the
flames. Prayers are offered to the bonfire seeking abundance & prosperity
followed by dancing & singing traditional folk songs. Light dinner is provided.
On Saturday, January 17th 2015: Bhogi
/ Pongal
/ Sankranti
•Yoga
students will offer Suryanamaskarams at
8.30 AM. Any one who knows Suryanamaskarams can
join the group to offer Suryanamaskarams.
•Join
us for the Bhogi pandlu
celebration at 5.30 PM on Saturday; it will be a great fun event for families
with young children.
