Sri Chinmaya Saraswati Temple will celebrate “Vasanta Panchami”, the birthday of Goddess Saraswati, on Saturday January 24, 2015. As Diwali is for Lakshmi and Navaratri is for Durga, Vasant Panchami is for Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and arts. This festival is celebrated every year on the 5th day or ‘Panchami’ of the month Magha in all Saraswati temples such as Saraswati temple in Basara and Sri Sharada Peetham in Sringeri. Chinmaya Mission is excited to announce the celebration of Vasant Panchami in our own Saraswati temple in Connecticut for the first time. On this day Goddess Saraswati is worshiped as the Goddess of Learning, the deity of Gayatri and the symbol of supreme vedantic knowledge.
