There
were several volunteers at the ashram this weekend to help with the
cleanup on “Shramadaan Day.” We thank all of them for their time and
effort. Most of the construction is complete and the main outstanding
item is the testing of the sprinkler system, next week; following that
we expect to get the certificate of occupancy.
The
filled books of Likhita Japa should be returned to the ashram by end of
June. You can mail or drop off the books at the ashram (393 Derby
Avenue, Orange, CT 06477) or bring them over by Jul 3.
While
Chinmaya Saraswati Ashram is intended for spiritual learning and
practice, the Saraswati Mata Shrine will serve as a place of worship.
The Likitha Japa books will go under the Saraswati Moorty. All your
prayers and good wishes through the Likitha Japa will enhance the power
of the deity to bless one and all.

May 2014 Banquet
The
Chinmaya Saraswati 2014 Annual Banquet was attended by around 150 guests, and the fundraising
goals were exceeded beyond the expectations of the organizers. This was
all due to the extremely generous donations and pledges by the attending
guests. Prior to the banquet, there was a commitment for $110,000 of
donations. In addition, at the banquet, there were
pledges for another $150,000. The funds raised will help setup the
shrines for Saraswati Mata and also for Ganeshji, Durga mata and Lakshmi
Devi.
The
program started with the invocation
prayer by Vijay Narayan, an undergrad student from Yale University and
member of the Yale Raga Society. This was followed by the main
entertainment, of the evening, by Sur Et Veritaal, an a capella group
from Yale University. This a capella group was unlike any other, with
brilliant performance in Hindi songs, and entertained the audience
bringing them to their feet with standing ovation. The evening ended
with a delicious dinner from Bangalore Restaurant. This success of the
CMFN annual banquet was due to the diligent and thoughtful work of many
CMFN volunteers and the generosity of donors.
